February is the perfect time to visit Death Valley National Park. Located in southern California Death Valley's unique landscapes, and temperatures in the low to mid 70's, make February the ideal time to take in this National Park.

The park is home to some of the hottest temperatures in the world and features unique desert landscapes that make it tricky to visit at other times of the year. February wet winters typically result in early wildflower displays appearing near the end of the month. You can take full advantage of the park's amenities because there is so much to do and the weather is perfect in February!

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone Winter

Where to stay: Inside the park: The Old Faithful Snow Lodge

Skip the crowds in February and visit Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is a breathtaking winter destination with its stunning white landscapes, cozy lodges, and steaming geothermal features. Yellowstone National Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States, and for good reason!

February is one of the chilliest months in Yellowstone, with the average temperatures between 4 and 30 degrees F and lots of snow. If you plan to travel here make sure you plan and come prepared. With the proper preparation, it will be the trip of a lifetime. The only road open all year long is the the road north of the park. The majority of Yellowstone isn't easily accessible in winter. During this time of the year, many park roads are open for over-snow travel by snowmobile or snow coach.

The park is home to an abundance of wildlife, including bears, bison, elk, and wolves. You can also explore the majestic geothermal features, like geysers and hot springs. The wildlife gathers around the warm geothermal springs for warmth and food at this time of the year. Making Yellowstone the perfect place to enjoy a winter wonderland experience.

Yosemite National Park, California

Where to stay: Inside the park: The Yosemite Valley Lodge

Yosemite National Park is one of the most iconic parks in the country. The park is renowned for its towering sequoia trees, alpine meadows, and waterfalls. It is extremely busy in the summer months, and also busy during the low seasons.

If you are looking to enjoy this National Park without the crowds, February is the perfect month for you! If you come in the winter, you'll be able to see snow-capped domes in the valley and experience beautiful snowy vistas. Bridalveil Falls is an easy hike with a fantastic scenic view. The water won't be flowing like it does in spring and summer, but the landscape along the path and the view will not disappoint. For a few days in February, the setting sun shines on horsetail falls and creates glowing orange and red colors - known as Firefall.

Big Bend National Park, Texas

Where to stay: Inside the park: Chisos Mountain Lodge or Outside the park: Terlingua Ranch Lodge

Big Bend National Park is a great place to experience the true beauty of Texas in February. In west Texas along the border of Mexico, the park is home to stunning desert landscapes, mountains, and canyons. Unlike the long scorching summers, February temperatures are over 64 F and nighttime temperatures have lows of 43 F on average.

There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, like hiking, camping, and horseback riding and February is the perfect time to experience them all. Hikes in Big Bend range from short nature trails to strenuous hikes in the Chisos Mountains. There are five visitor centers at this National park. Because of the chilly nighttime temperatures, we don't recommend camping in Big Bend this time of the year, and we prefer staying inside the park if you can snag a reservation.

Everglades National Park, Florida

Minong Ridge

Where to stay: Outside the park: Miami or Everglades City

Everglades National Park in Florida is one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. It features amazing wetlands home to abundant wildlife and is one of the few places in the world where you can see both crocodiles and alligators. With abundant walking trails hiking at this time of the year is much more comfortable.

Temperatures in February at Everglades National Park range between 60-70 F and it only rains 3 days a month on average. February is when the mosquitoes are more docile, as opposed to the summer months when they are close to unbearable. Both Anhinga Trail and Pa-Hay-Okee Boardwalk are wonderful ways to take in the one-of-a-kind experience of this National Park. A perfect winter destination for you to experience this exceptional National Park.

Saguaro National Park, Arizona

Where to stay: Outside the park: Tucson, Arizona

Saguaro National Park is a great place to experience the desert landscape of Arizona. The park is home to the majestic saguaro cactus, as well as other desert flora and fauna. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Saguaro, like hiking and bird watching. The cool dry weather in February is ideal for hiking and exploring this beautiful desert in Southern Arizona.

Temperatures range between 40 F at night to 70 F during the day. Always come prepared with protection from the sun in this desert climate. You'll need 2 days to take in both sides of the park if you'd like to The Bajada Loop Drive is a beautiful scenic auto tour. You can't miss the short Signal Hill Trail if you're interested in seeing petroglyphs. Saguaro East (Rincon Mountains) is equally worth a trip and has nice mountain views in the background.
